Boards and Commissions
The City of Waukee utilizes boards, commissions and committees made up of volunteer Waukee residents. These groups help to shape public policy and assist in various advisory capacities, allowing the City to benefit from the knowledge of a wide range of community representatives. Several boards and commissions are quasi-judicial, which means the State Code of Iowa has designated some legislative authority to them. The mayor recommends appointees who are then approved by the Waukee City Council.
The City is actively looking for people who are interested in serving on a board or commission for terms starting in 2026. To be considered, please submit your application online by Sunday November 16. You must live within Waukee city limits to serve on a board or commission.
Apply for City boards and commissions here. Thank you for volunteering to serve our community.
Typically, openings for boards and commissions occur at the end of terms. The City of Waukee will publish notice of the application window in the fall of each year. You may submit your application form at any time but may be asked to resubmit in the fall application season. View the Board and Commission Appointment Policy.
The Waukee Public Library Board of Trustees operates on a different appointment schedule and uses a different application form. Apply for the Waukee Public Library Board of Trustees.
All people appointed to a board or commission must complete open records/open meetings training within 90 days of being appointed. There is no cost to the board or commission member to take the training.
